Accelerate Healing with Shockwave Therapy

Please check out our newly released article about shockwaves here.

Introducing Shockwave Therapy an exciting treatment for a multitude of different conditions. This non-surgical treatment is affordable and worked by sending an intense, but short energy wave that travels faster than the speed of sound. This technology has been used for decades and with millions of patients.

What Can I Expect?

With shockwave therapy there are no side effects and the treatment is non-surgical. Using shockwave therapy you can promote accelerated healing of injured soft tissues, joint, bone and heel pain. The initial shockwave is very intense but doesn’t last very long. Usually sessions will last 20-30 minutes and provide relief of pain and restoration of mobility. Typically treatment is done once a week for 3-6 weeks depending on the results.

Before starting your session our physiotherapist will assess you to confirm you are a good candidate for shockwave therapy and also answer any questions you may have to ensure you are comfortable with everything.

Does it hurt?

The treatment may be mildly uncomfortable but the discomfort should only last for 4-5 minutes and the intensity can be adjusted for comfort.

How does it work?

Shockwave therapy works by creating a series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations that applied directly to an injury through a person’s skin. The technology was originally created after discovering that focused sound waves are able to break down kidneys and gallstones. Since then generated shockwaves have time and time again proven successful among a number of scientific studies on the treatment of chronic conditions. With shockwave therapy you don’t need painkillers, as the purpose of the therapy is to trigger the body’s own natural healing response. Many people feel reduced pain and increased mobility after the first treatment.
